“The Office” star Rainn Wilson has announced that it will change its name to Rainfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson on social media platforms to raise awareness of climate change.
The actor announced the news in a video uploaded on Twitter on Wednesday in support of the United Nations climate change conference This week in Egypt.
Wilson changed his name to Arctic Risk Name Generator, the website of Arctic Basecamp, where the actor is a member of the board.
“With the help of my scientific friends at Arctic Basecamp, I’ve changed my name to Rainfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson,” he said in the video. “It’s no joke, I’m as serious as a melting Arctic, which increases global risks, including extreme weather events around the world.”
“I hope this name change will bring attention to this growing…er, melting issue. We need world leaders at COP27 to take notice and take action. The Arctic is melting at millions of liters per second, then It doesn’t seem to be the problem to make a name for itself, so it’s up to us to make a name for it,” Wilson said.
“Go to arcticriskname.org and create a name that draws attention to this problem. Then – and this is the important part – change your social media profile Or display the name to match your new Arctic risk name. And if so many of us do, perhaps COP27 will be where our world leaders will sit down and notice the Arctic risks and offer a solution.”
In a follow-up tweet, Wilson shared that Twitter would not allow him to change his name. Elon Musk’s New company policies.
“P.S. They won’t let me change my name because Elon!” Wilson wrote.
He also called upon other Hollywood stars to participate in the movement. Leonardo Dicaprio, Cardi BJack Black and Samuel L Jackson were some of the names he mentioned.
