Prince William and Kate Middleton arrive at the star-studded 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston on Friday evening.
The royal couple were greeted by jubilant fans before entering the venue, where they sat next to Hannah Jones, CEO of Earthshot.
Prince and Princess of Wales Traveled to Boston on Wednesday for three days of events. This is his first US visit in eight years.
Middleton stunned in a vibrant green off-the-shoulder gown for the event. Fox News Digital confirmed that Middleton rented the Soles London gown through HURR, a UK rental platform for designer wear.
Middleton also wore the late Princess Diana’s diamond and emerald choker necklace.
Boston, the birthplace of John F. Kennedy, was chosen to host the second annual awards ceremony because the late president’s 1962 “Moonshot” speech set the challenge for Americans to reach the Moon by the late 1960s.
This inspired Rajkumar and his colleagues to set a common goal by 2030 to find solutions to climate change and other environmental problems.
Awards will be presented by Rami Malek, Catherine O’Hara and Shailene Woodley.
The event will also feature performances from Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Chloe x Halle and Ellie Goulding, who performed at the couple’s 2011 wedding reception.
The show will highlight the packages announced by Sir David Attenborough and Cate Blanchett, who are members of the Earthshot Awards Council. David Beckham was also in attendance on Friday night.
William and Kate will announce the winners of the Earthshot Prize on Friday night at MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
Winners in five categories, including nature conservation, clean air, ocean regeneration, waste elimination and climate change, will receive a 1 million pound grant ($1.2 million) to further their work. All 15 finalists will get financial help.
Daniel Dae Kim spoke to Fox News Digital ahead of the ceremony and explained that he was “looking forward” to meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Friday morning, Catherine, Princess of Wales headed to Harvard University outside Boston, where he visited the Center on the Developing Child.
It was a solo trip for the mother of three while William accompanied President Biden to the John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum during his three-day US trip.
At Harvard, Middleton spoke to researchers about advances in science to ensure a promising future for children. The British royal, who is an advocate of early childhood development, was seen taking notes.
Middleton’s father-in-law, King Charles IIIVisited Harvard University in 1986. He signed the guest book after 36 years.
During their first day in Boston, William and Kate attended a Boston Celtics game, attended by Celtics co-owner Wyck Grousbeck and his wife, Emilia Fazalari, co-owner Steve Pagliuca and his wife, Judy, Celtics great and Hall of Famer Sitting in the court with Thomas. “Satch” Sanders, Massachusetts Gov.-elect Maura Healy and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
During the game, the Heroes Among Us Award was presented to Ollie Peroule, a 15-year-old climate activist from Easthampton, Massachusetts. The royals were seen chatting with the parolees after the award presentation.
There were mixed reactions when William and Kate were shown on the Jumbotron, with some fans applauding and cheering, while others appeared to boo the royal family. However, the pair appeared to be enjoying themselves, and William was seen clapping and cheering the players on throughout the game.
The royals’ visit comes amid some controversy over an honorary member of the Buckingham Palace household. Lady Susan Hussey, William’s godmother, was reportedly forced to step down from her position after her accused of repeatedly asking A black woman born in Britain where she was “actually” from.
His US trip also highlights a rift with William’s brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who moved to California in 2020. William and Kate reportedly no plans to see harry and Meghan when they’re in America
