Kanye West Apparently it hasn’t done itself any favors by uploading its Andre 3000 collaboration “Life of the Party” to its Stem player device… The track is owned by Boogie Down Productions.
According to legal documents, obtained by tmz hip hopThe company says it owns the copyright to BDP’s iconic dis track “South Bronx” and claims that when it released the “Donda” bonus track on Stem Player, it never received permission to sample the song.
The company says that it and its partner alex klein Nearly 11K Stem Players sold within the first 24 hours of its release, grossing approximately $2.2 million…
The suit alleges that the parties never came to an agreement and says that these parties eventually withdrew their offer to license it.
However, the suit claims that Yee & Co. still heavily advertised the track using the “South Bronx” sample to boost sales of “Donda” and Stem Player.
The company now wants to stop further use of the song in the track and wants Ye & Co to hand over any profits from it. Many people always told KRS that the style was awesome…we think he wasn’t lying!!!
