Jeff Bezos Going to court because one of her former homeowners claims he racially discriminated against her, and forced her to work in such bad conditions… just going to the bathroom was a nightmare.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Mercedes Wedaa says that Bezos’s team allegedly treated him and other Hispanic cleaning workers very differently than white employees… he claims that his domestic manager was “aggressive and abusive” to him, while white employees For were “respectful and courteous”.
Veda, who began working at Bezos’ Seattle mansion in 2019, claims she often worked 10-14 hour shifts, but Bezos and his family were unable to take a break while they were at the property.
She claims she was not allowed to enter the house without actively cleaning it… where going to the bathroom became a major issue.
According to the docs, Weda and the other housekeepers were “forced to climb out the window of the laundry room. Then run through the mechanical room, through the mechanical room and into a bathroom downstairs.”
Wedaa is now seeking damages from Bezos and the 2 companies that manage his assets.
Bezos’s lawyer Harry Correlltells TMZ, “We have investigated the claims, and they lack merit. Ms. Veda made over six figures a year and was the head housekeeper. She was responsible for her own breaks and meal times, and several Bathrooms and breakrooms were available to him and the other staff.”
He continues, “The evidence will show that Ms. Veda was terminated for performance reasons. She initially sought more than $9M, and when the company refused, she decided to file this lawsuit. Given her background, it is absurd to suggest that Mr. Bezos, Ms. Sanchez, or Northwestern LLC discriminated against Ms. Veda on the basis of her race or national origin.”
