‘Harry Potter’s’ Tom Felton reveals Daniel Radcliffe used Cameron Diaz photo to guide him during flying scenes

According to excerpts shared by Insider, Felton explained, “The approach was that if a piece of magic or any kind of special effect could be practically achieved, it was the best approach.”

“This was especially true in the early days when the visual effects team had less advanced technology at their disposal.”

The fantasy game, Quidditch, was popular among wizards and witches in the “Harry Potter” world.

Actors will create flying scenes in front of a blue or green screen, and backgrounds will be added in post-production.

“The broom was a metal pole fitted with a deeply uncomfortable bike saddle,” Felton recalled.

“You had stirrups for your feet and a harness to keep you from falling. They tied you to poles so you couldn’t fall, and they had a more elaborate saw to move you up and down, left and right -Saw was the tool.. They blow fans on your face to make it look like there’s air in your hair.”

To maintain continuity during filming quidditch sceneA crew member “places a tennis ball with orange tape on a long pole” and the actors were advised to look in that direction.

“When the first assistant director shouted ‘Dragon!’ or ‘Blazer!’ You had to look at the tennis ball like it was a dragon or a blazer,” Felton described.

The 35-year-old actor explained that since there were multiple tennis balls during some scenes, he was directed to look at different objects to avoid confusion.

“We chose pictures of something or someone close to our hearts. Daniel Radcliffe had a particularly beautiful picture of Cameron Diaz.”

Meanwhile, Felton revealed that his photo choice was “beautiful carp” because he enjoys fishing.
