Britney Spears loves to take to social media to speak her mind — but unlike Kanye West, the world is genuinely interested in what she has to say.
Take, for example, Brit’s latest comment on the subject of her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears.
If you’re a fan of the pop icon, you probably know that Britain’s relationship with Jamie Lynn is complicated, to say the least.
In fact, it was just earlier this year Britney’s lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter to Jamie Lynn demanding that he stop sharing personal stories about his family while promoting his memoir.
So it came as quite a surprise to fans when Britney praised her sister on Instagram over the weekend.
“It’s my birthday but you’re in my heart so I’m thinking of you,” Elder Spears wrote on her 41st birthday.
“So brave, inspiring, and congrats for showing guts and pride in your show!!! You are not alone… If anyone knows what it feels like… I understand my dear sister!!! I love you!!!”
Britney praised Jamie Lynn with two candid photos that she took of herself.
Many commentators were quick to praise Britain for mending fences and working on its relationships – but others were skeptical.
And its not hard to see why.
During her convalescence, Brit’s Instagram page was heavily monitored and censored, and the music legend says there were times when others posted on her behalf without her permission.
As a result of those claims, fans are always on the lookout for posts that may have come from someone else.
“Not posting Britney.. absolutely #freebritney,” one commenter wrote on the singer’s latest post.
“It’s not Britney,” added another.
“Who’s Using Britney Social Media?” a third asked.
“Britney is definitely not free. I am unfollowing this account now,” said a fourth.
It’s sad that someone has taken over Britney’s account, but as they would need some sort of legal injunction to regain control, it’s not the most likely explanation here.
It’s entirely possible that Britney simply decided that life is too short to continue feuding with her sister and has opted to publicly bury the hatchet.
It appears that Jamie Lynn has not commented on the post, nor has she publicly commented on the situation in any other way.
The last time Jamie Lynn commented on her relationship with her sister was in January, when she received a cease-and-desist letter from Britney.
“British, I’m always here for you, you know behind the scenes I’m always here. It gets tiresome when conversations, and the texts we have in private don’t match your posts on social media,” Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram at the time.
